Halliburton RISE Scholarship Program – Recruiting Inclusive Students into Energy
The Halliburton RISE Scholars Program is an exclusive partnership with Prairie View A&M
University that is intended to extend across the academic career of the student and is highlighted
by key components that prepare students for their careers upon graduating.
Program Components:
• Scholarship – $12,500 per academic year, $6,250 will be allocated for both the fall and spring
semester once enrollment credits are confirmed
• Professional Development – Skill development training that includes professional, leadership
and technical competencies to help prepare them for professional life after graduation
• Exposure – Building awareness of the Oil & Gas industry and highlight the breadth of
opportunities from business to operations
• Internship Opportunities – All scholars will be offered internships that provide on-the-job
training that align their educational paths with their career goals
• Mentorship – Scholars will be assigned a leader at Halliburton who will serve as their Mentor
Program Eligibility:
- be enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student(s)
- have a minimum of 60 credit hours upon the start of the upcoming fall semester, not to exceed 75 credit hours (i.e. hold classification as a sophomore
at the time of application yet junior at the start of the academic year) - be considered accepted or on-track with college or discipline (College of Arts and Sciences, Business or Engineering)
- hold a GPA of 2.75 or above
- have a minimum of one noteworthy achievement or recognition, such as holding a leadership role in student organization or extracurricular activity, publication on the Dean’s list, or working a part-time job.
- hold knowledge of and interest in Halliburton and the energy industry as demonstrated by participation in any informal sessions hosted by Halliburton
- be taking discipline-specific courses to be considered for this scholarship and have passed at minimum of one major-specific prerequisite course
- major in one of the following College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business or College of Engineering fields:
Arts and Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics
Business: Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems
Engineering: Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering (concentration in bio-engineering option), Computer Science (concentration in cybersecurity or data science option), Electrical & Computer Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering
Please note: Supply Chain Management is currently available as a minor only in the College of
Business
Scholarship Renewals:
- Maintain the same above, with the exception of having a minimum of 90 credit hours upon the start of the upcoming fall semester, not to exceed 105 credit hours (i.e., hold
classification as a junior at the time of application/renewal yet senior at the start of the academic year) - Successful participation in the Halliburton RISE program (as deemed by the Halliburton execution team)
- Successful participation in the Halliburton summer intern program (as deemed by the Halliburton execution team)
Expectations of Program Participants:
RISE is not just a scholarship; it is a program designed to build a relationship with each student
and be an impactful part in your professional and personal development, which requires a time
commitment. Selected participants will be expected to participate in the following:
• Annual RISE Luncheon
• 3 Professional Development sessions per semester
• Mentee Training & Mentoring relationship with a Halliburton Employee
• Summer internship
• 1 social activity per semester
