I Am The Dream Scholarship
HOW TO ENTER THE I AM THE DREAM SCHOLARSHIP
Open to undergraduate students enrolled at Texas Southern University or
Prairie View A&M University for the 2026–27 academic year and pursuing
communications, media, film, music, theatre, visual or performing arts, or a
related creative field. Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5, verified by an
unofficial transcript. Full- and part-time students are eligible.
Eligibility
1. CREATE — Make a “Dreamer Vision” video, 60 seconds max, showing what
Dr. King’s dream means to you and your community.
2. POST — Share it publicly on Instagram. Any creative format is welcome.
3. TAG — Use #MLKHATTA2026, @therealmaddhatta and @majic1021. Keep
it public through Oct. 26, 2026.
One original, authentic entry per student. AI-generated creative content is
not permitted.

Your 60-Second Entry:
The deadline to enter the I Am The Dream
Scholarship Contest is Sept. 28, 2026. Your
Instagram video must be posted and include
#MLKHATTA2026 by this date.
Entry Deadline:
Five TSU and five PVAMU winners will be chosen
by Oct. 26, 2026, based on creativity, connection
to Dr. King’s dream, community impact and
presentation. Winners will be notified through
Instagram and must respond within 72 hours to
confirm eligibility and participation.
How Winners Are Chosen:
If You’re Selected:
Selected winners must provide a current bursar’s statement or official
enrollment verification from the registrar. Winners are required to
attend the I Am The Dream Scholarship Gala on Jan. 16, 2027, to be
recognized and showcase their winning entry. Scholarship funds will
be paid directly by the Madd Hatta Cares Foundation to the
recipient’s university.

1. SPONSOR & ELIGIBILITY
The I Am The Dream Scholarship Contest is sponsored by the Madd Hatta Cares

3. ENTRY PERIOD & DEADLINE
Entries may be submitted beginning Aug. 17, 2026, and must be posted by Sept.
28, 2026. Late, incomplete, inaccessible, or noncompliant entries may be
disqualified.
4. JUDGING & AWARDS
Five TSU and five PVAMU winners will each receive a$1,000 scholarship award. Entries will be judged on
creativity, connection to Dr. King’s dream, community
impact, and presentation. Winners will be selected by Oct.
26, 2026.
5. WINNER NOTIFICATION
Winners will be notified through Instagram and mustrespond within 72 hours to confirm eligibility and
participation. If a selected winner does not respond, is
ineligible, or cannot fulfill the requirements, an alternate
winner may be selected.
