About

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was organized on January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C., as the result of encouragement given to its five founders by Charles Taylor and Langston Taylor, members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. The five Founders: Arizona Cleaver, Fannie Pettie, Myrtle Tyler, Pearl Anna Neal, and Viola Tyler, affectionately known as the Five Pearls, formed a sisterhood to encourage the highest standards of scholarship through scientific, literary, cultural, and educational programs. In addition, they promoted service projects on college campuses and in the community, fostered sisterhood, and exemplified the ideals of finer womanhood. On December 8, 1990, the Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was chartered for the Clear Lake Area by nine degreed women who had become affiliated with the organization as undergraduates.
