Johnson Space Center Alumni Chapter Scholarship
RECOMMENDATION***
- Open to incoming freshman
- Applicant must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or above
*Applicant must be from the Houston Metro area (counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, and Montgomery) - The applicant must submit a letter to donor including the following information:
-Why you chose to attend Prairie View A & M University
-If relatives attended or graduated from PVAMU (grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews or cousins)
-Anticipated major
-Career Goals
-Awards and Achievements
-Community Service - Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (from a teacher, counselor, coach, sponsors, church member, neighbor, or an adult associate/friend). A JSC-PVU chapter member may submit the recommendation letter
- Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis per the following prioritized order: GPA, STEM field, awards, achievements, and community service
- A minimum of three of the four annual JSC scholarship recipients must be pursuing a degree in STEM field
*Legacy (someone whose relatives attended or graduated from PVAMU applicants, with good scholastic and public service credentials, are preferred over non-legacy applicants - The JSC chapter will select the winner based on the criteria listed. The $500 scholarship should be awarded in the Fall semester.
PLEASE FOLLOW THE CRITERIA BELOW IF THE RECOMMENDATION IS NOT SENT/ WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT BEFORE July 15
- Applicants must be graduating senior who plans to attend Prairie View A&M University full-time
- Applicant must be the child, relative, or friend of a financial member of the Johnson Space Center Chapter
- Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from an organization, club, church, or employer verifying applicants public service participation, citizenship, character, and leadership. A JSC-PVU chapter member may submit the recommendation letter.
- Applicant must exhibit good character and should not have a criminal record or served a probationary period.
- The Chapter Scholarship committee should receive a letter of verification of enrollment before the award is given
