2023 Scholarship Essay Question

Interested students should submit a thoughtful 500-word essay in response to the following prompt:
Is it ever justifiable to defend someone that you know is guilty of a crime? How does this impact the moral compass of defense attorneys, and what role should they play in the justice system?

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
You must be a U.S. resident or resident alien who is registered at a U.S. trade school, college or university with a VALID STUDENT ID#.
Essays must be unique (not submitted elsewhere) and written by the scholarship application signature.
All submissions should be in English.
Only one submission per student will be considered.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Judges will examine all entries received by the deadline above. Entries will be judged on argument presented as well as reader-friendliness for online audiences. The winner will be selected and notified up to 6 weeks after the submission deadline. One winner will be awarded the scholarship amount, and notable entries will also be published on the Neal Davis Law website. Check will be sent directly to the winner’s college.
